The Little Angels Mabambani Nursery School was opened on 30th October 2007. Our aim is to help the needy children from the Kikambala Community. Almost all nursery schools around, children must have to pay for their education. The parents or guardians can not afford to pay. Some of the children from the Mabambani Nursery School are from very poor families, some of the children have lost their parents and there is no one to pay for their education. Before this nursery school was opened you would see these children spending most of their time looking for coconuts to sell so that they could earn money for their families. These are the problems the children are facing every day of their lives.
The children would even ask for small jobs like fetching water for everyone in the village. Since the nursery has opened all the children are now in school and learning. The Mabambani Nursery School provides free education, free school uniforms, medication and also a feeding programme. The children would attend school without being fed at home because of the poverty. They now get breakfast and lunch provided.
The school at the moment is made out of steel sheets. It is just one big room, holding 80 children, this is not big enough as each day there is new children from the village needing education. There is a plot of land nearby which has been earmarked for a new building. This will not be cheap and the cost has been estimated at £5000. A lot of money for the people in Kikambala. The new building will have 3 classrooms, an office for the teachers and a kitchen. A sponsor or group of sponsors is sought for this.
