CHILDREN RECEIVE CLOTHES 07/10/08

Caroline Lloyd and her daughters visited the Mabambani Nursery School in August. They took clothes for all the children at the school. Jordan, Chloe, Morgan and Holly spent an afternoon with the children which the children enjoyed very much. Below is a photo of the nursery children with Jordan, Chloe, Morgan and Holly.

It was when Alison Roberts was visiting Kikambala on a family holiday in November 2007, when she met Mwana. Mwana has a salon close to the beach where she tries to earn a living. Mwana took Alison to the school and explained the problems they are all facing. Alison donated stationery and also paid for 9 desks and chairs. This was the start for Mabambani Nursery School.  Below is a photo of the desks and chairs, which were donated in November.

On Alison's return to the UK, Alison wrote a message on the Trip Advisor, asking people for help with Mabambani Nursery School. January 2008, a sponsor from Stoke on Trent was already a frequent visitor to Kikambala, but was not aware of the school. We decided to help Mwana from England,(a school with no electricty)!  the registration fees were paid for, we also sent Mwana enough money to buy food for an entire month for these children. It was brought to our attention that the school had no windows, we then paid for the windows to be cut so that the children had ventilation. Children spending all day in a steel school, in Africa with no windows can be very hot, the children would not be able to concentrate on their work. Below is a photo of the desks.

Eventually we arrived in Kikambala on 23rd March 2008, where she met Mwana. At this time there were 80 children now all needing school uniforms, so we helped to purchase all 80 school uniforms. Mwana explained to us that a new water tank was needed and preferably a larger one so that the water could be pumped from the bore holes and the toilets could be used,  this would also cut the electricity bill down too. So money was donated to purchase  the water tank .  Below is a photo of the water tank.
